Can you leave eye drops in a hot car?

Better not. Quell’s storage line reads “Store between 15° to 30°C (59° to 86°F),” and the top of that range is a warm day. A car parked in the sun climbs well past it, and does so fast, even when the weather outside doesn’t feel extreme.

Glove boxes and door pockets

They feel tucked away, but they are inside the same hot car. So is a bag left on the back seat.

What to do instead

Keep the bottle on you, in a bag you carry, or take it inside when you go. On a road trip, keep it in the cabin with you, not in the trunk, and out of direct sun.

If it has been left in the heat

Look at it before the next dose. The Do not use line reads: If this product changes color. If you are unsure, open a fresh bottle and ask a pharmacist about the old one.

Winter counts too

The bottom of the range matters as well. A car left out all night in freezing weather is outside it in the other direction. Traveling with eye drops covers longer trips.
