How to compare eye drops when shopping online
Compare the labels, not the marketing. Every over-the-counter eye drop has a Drug Facts panel laid out the same way, which makes the panel the fairest basis for comparing one product with another.
Uses
What each product is for. Quell’s: For use as a protectant against further irritation or to relieve dryness of the eye. A drop whose Uses don’t match your problem isn’t the drop for it.
Active ingredients
Lubricants, emollients, or something else entirely. Quell’s are Glycerol (1.0%), Polysorbate 80 (1.0%) and Light Mineral Oil (0.5%).
Inactive ingredients and preservatives
Read them for allergies and for preservatives. Quell is preservative-free, and its inactive list includes emu oil, which is why its label includes an egg and bird allergy caution.
Directions
How often you would use it, and so how fast you would go through a bottle. A cheaper bottle used more often can cost more by the month.
Delivered price
The bottle price plus shipping, per bottle. Comparing prices shows how.
The seller
A name, an address and a phone number. How to buy eye drops online safely has the checklist.
