Eye drops for itchy eyes

Quell is sold to relieve dryness, irritation and itching. It is a lubricating eye drop, with Glycerol (1.0%), Polysorbate 80 (1.0%) and Light Mineral Oil (0.5%) as its actives: two lubricants and an emollient.

What the label says

The Uses section of the Drug Facts panel reads: For use as a protectant against further irritation or to relieve dryness of the eye.

What kind of drop it isn’t

Quell contains no antihistamine; its actives are lubricants and an emollient and nothing else. If you are looking for an allergy medicine, that is a different kind of product, and a pharmacist can point you to one.

When itching needs a doctor

If itching is severe, keeps coming back, or comes with other symptoms, ask a doctor or pharmacist what is behind it. The label’s own guidance: Stop use and ask a doctor if you feel eye pain or changes in your vision, if irritation or redness continues, or if the condition worsens or persists for 72 hours.
